Weekend With The Dudes

A weekend with no homework, lesson write-ups, assessment data---- What is a girl to do?

First, I had a lovely leisurely breakfast with The Hubs.

Then we were off to the farmer's market. Resident Little Dude couldn't wait to sample the green onions. We were treated to a rendition of Billy Jean and singing pancake making Ninjas. The weather was damp, but the spirit made up for the weather.

We made it to Costco before the crazies showed up. Costco on a Saturday can be brutal, but we were in and out in an hour! I scored a cute summer skirt for $15.

We rounded out the weekend shopping at the Good Food Store. We did NOT beat the crazies, but luckily we had a short list!

I actually had time to bake!!! Shocking! I whipped up a batch of oatmeal raisin cookies. They were a hit. Even I liked them and I'm not keen on raisins.

I think that I need new pans and Silpats.

Resident Little Dude and I scored a jacket at Goodwill for his wax museum character, William Clark, one of the Copper Kings. The jacket will complete the costume with bow tie and top hat. He is working on memorizing his speech. Side note--- people at Goodwill are crazy and rude.

In other news, Resident Teenager had his braces removed and got his retainers fitted. He has been in braces for 2+ years. He is still getting used to the retainers.

The boys are on a end of school countdown--- 14 days!

Resident Little Dude has a sore throat and a slight fever. Gross! I hope that he doesn't have the kid-crap that is making the rounds.

Pep Talk

I want to be on the path to awesome!

Worth It

There is a time when all of the paperwork and training pays off. I just finished my last field placement before I student teach in the Fall. 141 hours spent in a multi-age, 1st/2nd grade classroom. I had the most amazing cooperating teacher and fabulous kiddos.

Look at my "teacher bag" adorned with thumb-print mice. I am so proud of it; I am sporting it everywhere! The cards are so precious, thanking me for spending time in their classroom. I owe them a debt of gratitude for enabling me to experience the joy of teaching, warts and all.

I am excited for my student teaching placement this Fall, back with my amazing cooperating teacher and half of my kiddos.

I am almost to the finish line. Thank God I am in the correct race.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is always bittersweet for me. For years I hated it after my mom died. I dreaded every hour of the day. Then I had the boys and homemade cards won me over. The best gift of all is spending the day with them. It doesn't hurt that they make dinner and do all the clean-up. I look forward to Mother's Day dinner all year. They usually make lemon shrimp pasta... Shhhh, I would settle for cereal as long as I don't serve it or clean it up! This year they went out on a limb and bought a fancy cake from Bernice's Bakery complete with buttercream frosting. I loved the frosting and the boys, Hubs included, scrapped it off! The fancy was lost on them, but not on me...

Resident Little Dude made me an owl in art. Isn't he cute?! I put him on my desk. Obviously, I named him Herbert. Yes, I name things, get over it.

Ha ha ha! Look at this awesome card that Resident Little Dude made. I am a fractal complete with curly hair, purse, and Coke Zero.

Dear Mom,

Thank you for being a good mom. I appreciate from the big things like carrying me in your womb for 9 months and rearing me in general, to the small stuff like buying delicious cheese dip. I want you to know that I do, in fact, love you and support you going to school. I think you are a great mom.

Love, Resident Teenager

Resident Teenager is beyond handmade cards. He bought one with glitter. He must know me. He really is a sweetie, underneath it all.

Fieldtrip to Helena

Last week the entire 4th grade went to Helena.

First we visited Montana Wild to look at birds and various wildlife. Binoculars are always fun!

We came across a turtle on our walking tour.

Then we were off to the capital where I left my camera on the bus. What an awesome chaperone I am!
